Is there an agreement between Italy and Hizbullah to guarantee the safety of the blue helmets?

Francesco Cossiga

When one reads the declarations of the Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guteress, and the prime ministers who praise the work of UNIFIL, there would be no need to wonder why UNIFIL is little more than a salvation army and an umbrella for Hizbullah’s trafficking, if one remembered Cossiga’s denunciation in 2008 that Italy had signed a sort of Lodo Moro with the terrorists, similar to the one with the Palestinians.
It was in 2008 when President Francesco Cossiga was interviewed by Yediot Aharonot, the Israeli daily. In that interview, not widely reported in Italian newspapers,  Cossiga was very clear in denouncing how Italy had sold out the Jews (for the second time in its history) out of cowardly interest.
With the agreement with the PLO of the “lodo Moro“, which is supposedly still applicable, Italy granted Arab terrorists free movement of men, weapons and money flows, while the PLO guaranteed a kind of “immunity” to the country, excluding, however, Jewish interest and people that could be freely targeted.
This agreement was revealed and never denied during an interview of the italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, with Bassam Abu Sharif, the Foreign Minister of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, in August 2008.
Bassam revealed that there  was a non-belligerency agreement between Italy and the Arab terrorists of the PLO.  The agreement, according to Abu Sharif, was called “The Moro Agreement”, taking the name of Aldo Moro, the former President of the Council of Ministers, assassinated in 1978, who was its creator.
Italy sold the jews once again, as Cossiga said, out of cowardice and for its own interests.
Until then everything was nebulous and inexplicable. Terrorism was raging in Europe while in Italy everything was quiet. Bassam and Cossiga opened a rift to the truth.
President Cossiga went further. He denounced in a clear and unequivocal manner that Italy, which with Prodi had strongly sponsored the deployment of UNIFIL2 in south Lebanon, had reached an agreement with the Hizbullah terrorists similar to that reached with the Palestinians.
I can say with certainty that even today (2008) there is such a policy. Italy has an agreement with Hizbullah whereby UNIFIL forces turn a blind eye to the rearmament process, as long as there are no attacks against the men of its contingent.”
Obviously, no one has ever commented, denied or condemned these statements, but the situation in the theatre makes it clear even to those who are not familiar with facts of arms, how it was possible that since the deployment of UNIFIL2, Hizbullah has become, under the umbrella of UNIFIL, a military force superior to the Lebanese armed forces themselves, with a strong political and military power not only in south Lebanon but throughout the country, which has sunk into a deep and serious economic and social crisis.
There will be war in the Middle East. We do not know when, but it will be war. And then Italy will have to take responsibility for the disaster that will ensue.
The italian contribution towards building peace lies in his wise discernment of the obstacles on the path to peace.
From 2008 the idea that the italian policy has anything whatsoever to do with the achievement of peace throughout the region, at best, disingenuous and at worst a political deceit. The situation in the area would undoubtedly confirm Cossiga’s complaint.
For future reference.
